Go Green With Avocado Oil

Are you using Avocado oil (Laurus persea) in your aromatherapy and massage blends?  If not, check out this natural, fresh oil! While you and your clients enjoy the scent and texture of this carrier oil, it goes to work behind the scenes restoring and rejuvenating the skin naturally.

Avocado oil is highly penetrating, deeply nourishing and softens dry skin. It’s known to help the upper layers of the skin retain moisture. Repeated applications of moisturizing butters, oils or lotions made with Avocado oil reveal an increase of hydration of the upper layers of the skin, and an improvement of the skins elastic properties. Whether you’re looking for an oil to use as a carrier with essential oils or to blend with other moisturizing oils in a product, Avocado oil plays well with others.

How is the oil derived from the fruit we commonly know as a salad topping or the main ingredient in guacamole? Read More

Peppermint

People always told me that if I planted peppermint (Mentha x piperita) in my garden it would “take over”…well it’s true!  Peppermint has a strong personality and one that I’m grateful for when I have a headache.  Just one drop of peppermint in a teaspoon of cream or unscented carrier oil (i.e. sweet almond or jojoba) rubbed gently into my neck can do wonders to relieve my headaches.  If you try this, be sure to wash your hands right away to avoid getting any peppermint in your eyes-it stings.

Another place to utilize peppermint’s healing qualities is with nausea.  Put one drop of peppermint essential oil on a tissue and inhale deeply for a few minutes.  This has literally gotten me through some rough boat rides without totally losing it! (ok, so they were only ferry rides…on smooth water…guess I’m a little sensitive).

Great for carsickness as well, I add 5 drops to a blank essential oil inhaler and I can make it through even the wildest mountain roads (you know those roads in Florida...).
