Bead For Life's Shea Butter Project

About a month ago I got an email from Erin and Heather, two of the women who work for the non-profit organization, Bead For Life. Bead for Life’s goal is to eradicate extreme poverty by creating bridges of understanding between impoverished Africans and the world’s concerned citizens. Erin and Heather were hoping I could connect them with an African distiller to purchase high quality essential oils for their Shea butter products. Read More

3 Ways to Cleaning Cutting Boards

1. Put sea salt in a small bowl and mix in 5 drops of Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) and 1 drop of Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita). Place the cutting board in your sink and use a sponge to scrub the salt/oil mixture on your cutting board. Let the aromatic salt sit on the cutting board for a few minutes in your dish drain and then rinse off with hot water. Works great!

2. Pour a cap full of Lavender hydrosol onto your sponge and wipe the sponge on both sides of your cutting board. Then add 5 drops of Grapefruit essential oil (Citrus paradisi) to your sponge and rub it on both sides of the cutting board. Let the cutting board dry in your dish drain. No need to rinse it. The whole kitchen will smell great!

3. To keep wooden and plastic cutting boards free of bacteria, use a few drops of Lemon essential oil to
clean the cutting board. First, wash the board with hot water and castile soap. Then put about five
drops of Lemon essential oil on a clean sponge and wipe the board vigorously, front and back. The
“side effect” is that the sponge is now also clean and bacteria free! (From my new eBook, Essential Living eBook: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home)

Drop Box

Dropbox is a free service that lets you access your documents from any computer and set up folders to easily share them.

I was teaching a class last week and wanted to share several files with the students. The students all downloaded drop box in moments and I set up shared folders. In less than 5 minutes we had the same documents on each of our computers.

And the bonus: Dropbox automatically backs up your files! What's not to love?
